(English) Missing/altered features in 2.25

[and available workarounds]

The DHIS2 2.25 user interface has been significantly improved and streamlined, and a number of apps and features have been redesigned and/or moved. During this process, a small number of useful features have been removed or significantly altered – these are listed below, together with potential workarounds to enable you to perform the same functions.
General Users
PSI no longer supports the use of Firefox browsers with DHIS2. A handful of bugs and issues specific to Firefox have emerged over the past year.
Workaround: all access to DHIS2 should be via Chrome browsers, which have been thoroughly tested and are very stable.
Legend keys are now fully displayed in charts, and take up more space: this is a significant improvement over 2.22, where legends were often truncated and unreadable, but it can mean the chart itself is ‘squashed’ into a smaller space:
Workarounds: set concise ‘Short names’ for Data Elements, Indicators and Org Units etc, and ensure users adjust their settings to use ‘Short name’ rather than ‘Name’ in the analytics; in dashboards, expand the item to be wider.
Maps now default to using OpenStreetMap (OSM) instead of Google Streetmaps, as OSM Light loads more quickly; the appearance of your saved maps may therefore change in 2.25. Workaround: if you prefer Google Streetmaps, you can change this setting in each favourite.
Country Admins
The Organisation Unit search app has been removed: this has now been replaced by a search box in the left-menu-bar of the Organisation Unit screen, but when you find an Org Unit, this screen only allows you to then open records for its children, not the Org Unit itself.
Potential workaround: use the Data Entry or Event Capture apps to search for an Org Unit, as these will show the search results within a hierarchy, including the Org Unit’s parent; you can then use the Organisation Unit search box to search for the Org Unit’s parent, and thus edit the Org Unit itself.
For Data Sets and Category Options, the Org Unit assignment hierarchy no longer automatically expands to show the selected Org Units (it just states the number of Org Units selected).  This makes it extremely difficult to work out which Org Units have been assigned to a Data Set, and to identify gaps.
Workaround: the following API call can be used to show a list of Org Units assigned to a Data Set – just replace ‘keyword’ with part of the name of the Data Set, and then copy-and-paste into your browser:
  • fields=id,name,organisationUnits[name,code,level]&filter=name:ilike:keyword
The specific Validation Rules feature for Programs has been removed.
Workaround: use the much more powerful Program Rules.
The Metadata Detailed Export has been removed: you can no longer select individual items of metadata for export, or save Detailed Metadata exports (this feature had a number of bugs in 2.22).
Workaround: for Datasets and Programs, you can use the new ‘export with dependencies’ to export a single Dataset or Program and all other related elements (sections, data elements, options etc). For other elements, you can export every item for a particular element (eg all data elements), and then manually edit the XML or JSON to exclude all but the items you want.
Only a limited set of Program Rules are implemented in the Tabular Tracker app: the only two lookups supported are ‘Data element in current event’ and ‘Tracked entity attribute’, and the only actions supported are ‘Hide data element’, ‘Show warning’ and ‘Show error’.
Workaround: ensure that if a Program uses Tabular Tracker for data collection, it uses only the limited set rules available.
